Cynnal Cymru Awards 2015
On 19th November 2015 the inaugural Cynnal Cymru (Sustainability Wales) Awards were held at the impressive setting of the Millennium Centre in Cardiff. Our school's garden project and Groundforce club, led by Mr Lane, had been shortlisted for 'Community Project of the Year' and we found ourselves rubbing shoulders with other shortlisted projects such as Dwr Cymru, Millennium Stadium Cardiff, the City and County of Swansea and many others. It was an incredible achievement to reach this stage.
Mr Christopher and Miss Morgan travelled up to Cardiff on behalf of the school expecting to be one of the 'Highly Commended' applicants. However, it was a complete shock when the name 'Swiss Valley' was announced as WINNERS in our category.
It was wonderful to receive the award recognising the work Mr Lane has led in producing such an impressive project promoting sustainability through recycling, reducing carbon footprint through growing our own vegetables. The children have learnt so much and had many new experiences through the various aspects of the project. Hopefully this work will continue to grow and receive further recognition and support locally and nationally.
Da iawn Groundforce a Mr Lane.
